講題：中世紀中國佛教的佛性與道性的比較：從吉藏的草木有佛性談起

根據北涼曇無讖（385–433 A.D.）於五世紀所譯的《大般涅槃經》(T12.374.)，「眾生皆有佛性」。自從《大般涅槃經》的譯本出現，其中的佛性思想為六朝(220–589 A.D.)時期動盪不安的社會提供一個救贖的解釋。眾生皆有佛性，也有未來成佛的可能性。許多佛教僧人也紛紛提出與佛性相關的討論。但是他們的佛性論不包括草木無情。從六世紀開始出現了「草木無情有佛性」的觀點，讓東亞佛教發展上出現一個轉折點，它引領唐朝禪宗、天臺宗九祖荊溪湛然(711–782 A.D.)乃至於日本佛教的本覺思想走向新的面貌。

隋朝三論宗僧人吉藏(549–623 A.D.)在他的《大乘玄論》中明白的提出草木有佛性。在中國，吉藏也許是第一位如此明確的提出此種主張的佛教僧人。他所提倡的草木有佛性，是透過玄學思想，重新詮釋佛性、眾生、草木無情之間的關係。因此，其論述有一部分與道家的本體論相互一致。雖然自魏晉南北朝，因佛教經典陸續傳入中國與被翻譯，佛教的思想漸漸脫離早期格義佛教。但是中國僧人在一些義理的闡釋與論註上，或多或少仍與中國思想有關連。事實上，中國佛教僧人包括吉藏並不反對玄學哲理的思想。

吉藏的草木有佛性思想，是融合後期大乘佛教思想(如來藏與《大般涅槃經》)與中國道家玄學思想所產生的新中國佛教思想。就草木無情本身是否具有佛性的問題而言，根據曇無讖所譯的《大般涅槃經》卷三十七云:「非佛性者。所謂一切牆壁瓦石無情之物。離如是等無情之物。是名佛性」(T12.374.581a22–581a23)。《大般涅槃經》的佛性論似乎並未包含草木無情等物。吉藏透過三論思想，重新詮釋佛性，把有情眾生的佛性擴展到無情草木的本性。他的詮釋，類似於玄學所討論的「道之性」(從六朝開始為「道性」)。因此，我將把三、四世紀玄學的道之性與其發展和吉藏的草木佛性說做一比較，藉由玄學的道性與吉藏的草木佛性的比較，可以發現兩者的相似處。另外，我將探討他如何透過玄學，重新詮釋佛教的眾生這個概念，讓眾生與草木無情在某種程度上有所結合。藉由這兩點的討論，可以幫助我們了解，吉藏如何使他所主張的草木有佛性的觀點，與道家的本體觀相呼應。

對於吉藏所主張的草木有佛性，除了從佛教本身來討論之外，也許可以從非佛教的角度來探討，例如中國的玄學思想。或許我們可以發現，藉由與中國哲學思想的融合與重新詮釋，佛教在中國發展出另一種新的思想面貌，成為佛教與中國思想交流與融合下的中國式佛教。吉藏的草木有佛性之說即為一佳例。

講題：三寶和三從：北魏時期比丘尼的生活
主持人：李貞德（中央研究院史語所研究員）
本文探討北魏時期三位比丘尼的生活。我將透過她們的墓誌銘，討論佛教與儒家的思想如何在她們的日常生活並存，尤其是她們身為比丘尼，卻又身兼母親的身份。一般而言，如果女性想成為佛教的比丘尼，她必須「出家」，離開家人，甚至斷絕與家人和孩子的關係。然而，一些關於北魏比丘尼的墓誌銘文顯示事實並非如此，她們未必要「出家」。相反的，她們仍然與家人保持親密的關係。她們的銘文顯示，她們不認為這樣的生活和行為跟佛教教義相互牴觸。因此，本文將探討這些比丘尼在她們的生活當中如何結合佛教與儒家思想。

2014年「臺灣閱讀節」嘉年華會將在12月7日於國家圖書館熱鬧開鑼。以「閱讀無所不在的幸福」作為活動主軸，規劃沿著館舍外圍四周的人行道上擺設露天書牆展示好書外，並號召全館各單位、連結國內各公共圖書館，聯手策劃繽紛多元的閱讀活動，藉以打造獨具臺灣味的閱讀年度慶典。

為熱烈響應臺灣閱讀節的年度盛會，12月7日當天漢學研究中心預計在中山南路、愛國西路口人行道設置「幸會臺灣」攤位，邀請目前在臺訪問研究的外籍學人，包括：印度籍Singh Prashant Kumar（辛柏山）博士、日本籍荒木達雄先生、馬來西亞籍陳韋亦女士、拉脫維亞籍Kaspars Eihmanis（艾恪）先生、波蘭籍Rafal Felbur（費若愚）先生等五位參與活動。透過外籍學人現身介紹該國知名民間故事，並擇取部分故事內容現場朗讀，以鼓勵民眾積極參與閱讀，體驗臺灣多元族群、新住民及外國文化之特色與風貌，促進彼此之了解。現場同時還準備了簡易趣味問答的遊戲，要贈送答對者豐富精緻的獎品。

當日，除了各國民間故事讀本可供讀者現場閱讀外，還蒐集在臺發行的《四方報》及東南亞各國語文繪本，提供民眾現場閱讀。此外，現場還將播放內政部移民署「全國新住民火炬計畫」之「新住民幸福家庭生活短片競賽」2014年最新得獎作品，以吸引民眾觀賞，藉以推廣大家認識、體驗臺灣新住民多元文化之美。

2013年11月漢學研究中心出版之《經學研究論著目錄1998-2002》（中研院文哲所林慶彰、蔣秋華教授主編），全書內容已於2014年10月併入本中心原建置的「經學研究論著目錄資料庫」，匯入資料庫共27,158筆。

該資料庫包括林慶彰教授主編之《經學研究論著目錄》（1912-1987），二編（1988-1992）、三編（1993-1997）所有內容，皆為本中心紙本出版後，再納入「經學研究論著目錄資料庫」，開放於本中心網頁「專題資料庫」，免費提供檢索利用。目前四編內容合計，該資料庫已有86,290筆資料。

林慶彰教授主編之《經學研究論著目錄》，收錄專書，期刊、報紙、論文集論文，博碩士論文、學術會議論文等，內容詳備，體例工整，頗獲學界重視和好評。「經學研究論著目錄資料庫」除便於檢索外，增闢「分類查詢」項目，保留紙本目錄中之分類架構，為一大特色。

《漢學研究》（季刊）計劃於2016年6月出版「疾病、醫療與文化」專輯，由中央研究院歷史語言研究所李貞德研究員籌劃主編。醫療史研究近年來蓬勃發展，其中尤以將疾病與醫療納入社會文化脈絡的考察，成果最為豐碩。本次專輯擬以中國史為主要對象，透過針對身體知識、疾病觀念、本草藥物、治療技藝，以及醫護等照顧者群體的分析，增進對中國社會與文化的認識。特別是，我們期望藉由探討疾病與醫療的相關問題，對各歷史時期中國各地區的差異，以及中國與域外的互動有更深入的瞭解。論文以中、英文撰寫皆可，篇幅、體例悉依本刊「稿約」和「寫作格式」。

In 2016, Chinese Studies will publish a special issue entitled “Disease, Medicine and Culture,” to be edited by Professor Jender Lee (Research Fellow, Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica). We welcome manuscripts that investigate Chinese social and cultural history from the perspectives of health and healing, and particularly encourage research that considers Chinese medical history in a global context. The Center for Chinese Studies is organized under the Ministry of Education and managed by the National Central Library, Taiwan. We are responsible for collecting and organizing materials related to Chinese studies as well as providing research-related services. The Newsletter for Research in Chinese Studies has been put out on a quarterly basis since January 1982 to report on research, teaching, events, and publications relating to Chinese studies. The Newsletter is primarily provided either an exchange or complimentary basis to individuals, organizations, groups, and libraries in both Taiwan and overseas that are involved with Chinese studies. We also take subscriptions from all over the world. Currently 2,000 copies of each issue are printed.

The Newsletter is published every February, May, August, and November and primarily covers events occurring from October-December, January-March, April-June, July-September, respectively.
