「臺灣漢學講座」係國家圖書館漢學研究中心配合政府推動「臺灣書院」在海外舉辦之學術活動，以呈現臺灣與漢學研究成果，並宣揚具有臺灣特色的中華文化。自2011年起每年皆在海外舉辦六至七場「臺灣漢學講座」。本年度前四場講座陸續於美國華盛頓大學、德州大學奧斯汀分校、比利時根特大學以及英國倫敦大學亞非學院（SOAS）舉辦。

【匈牙利場】
講題：Admired by Scholars and Laymen Alike: Introducing Some Classics in Chinese Society（雅俗共賞：介紹中國社會中的幾部經典）

Abstract:
We use the term “Classics” to indicate the books which serve as a standard of excellence and exert lasting influence. In Chinese society, there are numerous classics. They include Confucian, Daoist, and Buddhist works with philosophical values, as well as historical and literary works with beautiful words and intriguing plots. In this talk, I will introduce some Chinese classics with which I grew up with in Taiwan from the 1960s to 1980s. Special attention will be paid to those books available in English and Hungarian translations. I will introduce several representative philosophical works: the Analects, Lao zi and Buddhist sutras. As for historical and literary works, I will introduce The Records of the Grand Historian, Tang Poems, Best of Classical Prose, Journey to the West, the Dream of Red Chamber, and The Golden Lotus. How do Chinese people read these books? And how do these books influence Chinese people’s behavior and thought in modern times? These books are like a window, through which we can understand why Chinese culture has a long history and remains vital in modern times.

摘要：
經典意指歷久不衰而能持續發揮影響力的書籍。在中國社會之中這樣的經典數量不少，其中包含了具有哲學、思想意味的儒釋道典籍，也包括一些文字優美或情節曲折動人的文學、史學作品。本次演講將以個人經驗為基礎，來介紹幾部影響深遠的中國經典著作，而特別關注有英文與匈牙利文翻譯的作品。在儒釋道經典方面將介紹《論語》、《老子》與佛經等，在文學與史學方面將介紹《史記》、《唐詩》、《古文觀止》、《西遊記》、《紅樓夢》、《金瓶梅》等。中國人如何閱讀這些典籍，這些傳統著作又如何影響到現代人們的行為舉止與價值觀念？這些作品像一扇窗戶，透過他們可以瞭解中國文化淵遠流長、歷久彌新的生命力。

講題：Evolution and Ethics and the Transformation of Knowledge in Modern China（《天演論》與近代中國的知識轉型）

Abstract:
Yan Fu’s Theory of Natural Evolution, a translation of Huxley’s Evolution and Ethics, was an important work and famous for its inaccuracy. It was widely read and encouraged Chinese people to understand natural evolution to strengthen themselves and to save their race. In this talk I will analyze the features of this Chinese translation and its impact on knowledge transformation in modern China. Yan’s translation was strongly influenced by his prior study of The Book of Changes and Xunzi. Yan emphasized the importance of ethical values in the process of evolution. He criticized Spencer for overemphasizing natural evolution at the expense of moral autonomy, and established a link between his emphasis on ethics, individual freedom, and Huxley’s theory of social cooperation. In this way, Yan’s understanding of evolution placed equal emphasis on self and group and led to an accommodative approach to policy and cultural reform. His ideas influenced both revolutionaries and constitutionalists in the late Qing, as well as liberals and New-Confucians in the Republican period. Moreover, Yan’s view of natural evolution along with his other translations of J. S. Mill, Adam Smith and Herbert Spencer led to the widespread adoption of a linear view of historical studies, as well as the rise of sociology, economics, political sciences, and religious studies in Modern China.

摘要：
《天演論》乃嚴復譯自赫胥黎的《演化與倫理》一書，此書在近代中國影響深遠，鼓舞國人自立圖強，然該書乃「達旨」而非忠實之翻譯。本次講座將分析此譯書的思想特點及其對近代中國知識轉型的影響。嚴譯深受《易經》與荀子之影響，以此來詮釋西方天演觀念。他強調天演過程之中倫理的價值，並結合了倫理、個人自由與赫胥黎所強調的社會合作，而批評斯賓塞「任天為治」的想法。他的觀念影響了晚清的革命黨與立憲派，以及民國之後的自由主義者與新儒家。他所譯介的天演觀念以及他對穆勒、亞當斯密與斯賓塞著作的翻譯促成線性觀點的歷史研究，以及近代中國社會學、經濟學、政治學與宗教學的興起。

Speaker Bio:
Dr. Max K. W. Huang（黃克武）was born in Taipei, Taiwan in 1957. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in History from National Taiwan Normal University. He subsequently pursued his studies in the United Kingdom and the United States, receiving a second master’s degree from Oxford University and his Ph. D degree from Stanford University. He is a distinguished research fellow at the Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica. His major fields are Ming-Qing studies and Modern Chinese intellectual history. He has published six books and more than 80 articles. Dr. Huang’s most recent book is If It’s not Dirty, It’s No Joke: Humor, Desire, and the Body in the World of Modern Chinese Masculinity. His latest book is Government and Politics in Taiwan (Rouledge, 2011). He has a new co-edited volume titled Migration to and from Taiwan (Routledge, 2014).

講者簡介：
黃克武博士1957年生於臺灣臺北，臺灣師範大學歷史學系學士、碩士，英國牛津（University of Oxford, U.K.）大學東方系碩士（1989），美國史丹佛（Stanford University, USA）大學歷史系博士（2001）。現任中央研究院近代史研究所特聘研究員。研究領域為明清史、中國近代思想史。主要著作：《一個被放棄的選擇：梁啟超調適思想之研究》（1994）、《自由的所以然：嚴復對約翰彌爾自由思想的認識與批判》（1998）、The Meaning of Freedom: Yan Fu and the Origins of Chinese Liberalism（2008），《惟適之安：嚴復與近代中國的文化轉型》（2010），《近代中國的思潮與人物》（2013），《言不褻不笑：近代中國男性世界中的諧謔、情慾與身體》（2016），以及有關明清文化史、嚴復、梁啟超、胡適、蔣中正等之學術論文八十餘篇。

2016年漢學研究中心外籍訪問學人中秋節茶會

漢學研究中心於2016年9月12日（星期一）下午於國家圖書館B1讀者餐廳「詩篇咖啡」，舉辦外籍訪問學人中秋節茶會──「茶與樂的對話」，邀請本中心「外籍學人來臺研究漢學獎助」以及外交部「臺灣獎助金」訪問學人於中秋節前夕共度佳節，希望在學者研究學問之餘，能體驗我國傳統民俗節慶的文化內涵。共有來自24個國家39位外籍學人及眷屬參加。

中秋茶會開場，邀請國立國光劇團文場樂師周佩誼女士演奏京胡樂曲「夜深沈」，帶動氣氛；國家圖書館曾淑賢館長及外交部研究設計會介文汲主任於餐會前致歡迎辭，揭開這場國際饗宴的序幕。茶會中，學人及眷屬們品嚐月餅、鳳梨酥、文旦等應節美食，並由漢學中心同仁為與會嘉賓示範茶道，大家自由交談，同時觀賞漢學中心特別製作的介紹中秋節起源及傳說的簡報播放，滿室談笑風生，和樂融融。

茶會安排學人輪流上臺自我介紹，讓所有與會學人對彼此進一步認識，其中穿插才藝表演。第一段才藝表演由斯洛維尼亞盧比安那大學(University of Ljubljana, Slovenia) 教授Jana S. Rosker（羅亞娜）演唱「水調歌頭（明月幾時有）」，她以崑曲（中文）、爵士樂（英文）兩種曲風詮釋這首蘇東坡著名詞曲，令全場驚艷；第二段表演由哥倫比亞領航者大學(Piloto de Colombia University, Colombia) Fernando Alonso教授演唱英語、西語、法語三種版本的「吻我吧愛人」(Bésame Mucho) 一曲，學人的多才多藝使嘉賓們印象深刻。最後中華文化教育交流協會秘書長潘俊仁先生粉墨登場飾演杜麗娘，帶來壓軸「遊園驚夢」崑曲表演，學人們對潘先生反串之柔媚身段讚嘆不已，全場觀眾目不轉睛拍手叫好，將中秋茶會帶到最高潮！

現場學人們興致高昂，在自我介紹時，許多學者即興加入了表演，例如阿根廷籍學人Daniel Francisco Sorichetti教授與墨西哥籍學人Nuchnudee Chaisatit教授帶來了熱情洋溢的拉丁美洲舞蹈，以及三位韓國籍學人Chan-Mo Chung（鄭燦模）教授、Jihyeon Jeong（鄭智賢）助理教授與Steven Kim副教授合唱一曲韓國民謠「阿里郎」。

現場氣氛極其熱絡，各國學人相談甚歡，不僅彼此分享在臺生活經驗，更交流了不同學術領域的研究資源與心得發現。

《漢學研究》（季刊）擬於2018年6月出版「漢語方言層次研究」專輯，由臺灣大學中文系楊秀芳教授籌劃主編。論文以中、英文撰寫皆可，中文稿以不超過二萬五千字，英文稿以30頁以內為原則，體例請依照本刊「稿約」和「寫作格式」。關於本專輯的規劃構想及目的說明如下：
因為移民遷徙、族群接觸等因素影響，漢語方言形成多層次異讀的現象，這些複雜的異讀現象，使方言研究增添許多挑戰性，也吸引更多學者投入其中。如何合理的解釋層次異讀材料，以建立對方言史的認識，是方言研究重要的課題，可以說，層次研究是漢語方言學最具有理論性開創意義的課題之一。

漢語方言學者很早就指出方言有層次異讀現象，經過多年研究，累積了許多成果，大家逐漸認識到方言層次的構成與性質十分複雜：層次間可能以疊置方式完成其競爭、取代的過程；也可能形成「混血音讀」，而使層次分析更見困難。競爭消融的結果可能只殘餘少數異讀，難以利用來建立對層次的認識；也可能藉由方言的拼合而找出行將消失的語音層次。此外，利用方言構擬古語時，層次異讀材料應當如何處理，層次間的對應關係應當如何釐清，才能夠使古音的構擬更見合理，這些都是必須深思的問題。進一步說，有些特殊或不合規律的層次異讀是受語義和語法變化特殊影響而產生，研究這類異讀材料，還必須加上語義和語法研究的觀點，才能從中了解這些例外音讀的成因，從而使之在層次的分析中得到應有的地位。我們因此逐漸了解到，分析語音層次也不能只看語音的問題。

以上這些成績，為方言層次研究奠定了良好的基礎。近年學界出版了許多種方言詞典、調查報告和研究著作，在理論和方言語料上有了長足的進步和很好的資源。在這樣的基礎上，本刊規劃「漢語方言層次研究」專輯，提供一個發表的平臺，希望凝聚學者的心力，深入探討此一課題，以開發新的研究成果。

The June 2018 issue of Chinese Studies will be a special issue entitled “Strata in Chinese Dialects,” guest-edited by Professor Hsiu-fang Yang of National Taiwan University. Papers can be written in either Chinese or English. The length and style should conform to Chinese Studies’ “Guide for Submissions” and “Style Sheet.”

Due to constant linguistic contact throughout human history, almost every existing Chinese dialect preserves some form of linguistic layer or layers, thus constituting a phenomenon featuring dual- or multi-systems of readings within the same society. These reading systems, or strata, display great significance not only in terms of descriptive linguistics but also historical and comparative linguistics, with scholars increasingly recognizing that research on dialect strata is one of the most challenging and promising frontiers in Chinese linguistics.

This special issue welcomes theoretical or empirical contributions on any topic relating to strata studies of Chinese dialects. All submitted papers will be subject to peer review. For further information about submissions, please visit the Chinese Studies website.

Rafal Smoczynski教授、庫瑪爾教授「寰宇漢學講座」報導

漢學研究中心於2016年9月7日舉辦2場寰宇漢學講座，邀請本中心「外籍學人來臺研究漢學獎助」訪問學人，波蘭科學院哲學與社會學研究所Rafal Smoczynski助理教授、印度新納爛陀佛教大學庫瑪爾（Arun Kumar Yadav）助理教授，分享在臺研究成果。

第一場由波蘭籍Smoczynski教授主講「Religion and Economy. Exploring the Role of Religious Convictions in Shaping Attitudes of Business People」，邀請國立東華大學社會學系黎德星教授主持。Smoczynski教授的主題是，探討在虔誠信仰啟發之下的宗教行為，是否可能制約經濟活動中的投機之舉，並促進受到貪瀆及地下經濟挑戰的中小企業革新勵進。這個命題的爭議點是：宗教意義的制約條件，在其道德指向之下可能會衍生出許多的模糊效應；這和「價值理性行為」本質的不確定性有關。然而那些出自宗教背景但追求純然經濟利益的企業家，幾乎不會意識到這一點。

宗教背景的企業家也有能力做出終止非正式合約的冒險決斷，並進一步與不熟悉的貿易對象建立更普遍性的企業關係網絡，這顯然與其不確定卻可期的未來利益有關。是故，僅有少數的公司能以非正式交易行為成功取得經濟效益，因為建立假設市場的流程太過複雜，經濟體難以有效掌控。根據蒐集自波蘭與臺灣的研究發現並分析後，Smoczynski教授主張，決定市場關係的因素並不僅限於傳統認知上的價格競爭，還受到公共團體、規範系統、認知結構，以及宗教等種種其他因子的影響。

第二場由印度籍庫瑪爾教授主講「中國盂蘭盆節與印度祖先節之比較，以及它們與印度教和佛教之關連」，邀請佛光大學佛教學系宗玉媺副教授主持。從印度人心靈中發韌而出的佛教，成為南亞諸國間以價值本位教育進行文化交流的橋樑。祖先節就是一例，這種文化祭儀不止在印度境內，也透過佛教，以他種形式移植到其他國家。對已逝祖先的崇拜不僅見於印度，也見諸其他文化及國家。然而在一些大乘或南傳佛教國家的祖先崇拜儀式，似乎受到傳統印度佛教相當大的影響。庫教授的演講即在探討論述盂蘭盆節和印度祖先節（Ancestors Festival）之間的關係。

庫教授在演講中指出，從《往事書（Puranas）》等多種古代經典檢視印度的祖先節的歷史，會發現它早在吠陀時代便已存在。雖然隨著時代演進已經產生不少改變。印度各地每年根據印度曆，在雨季過後舉行為期半個月的Pitru Paksh，同樣是祭拜鬼魂的儀式。中國人則每年根據陰曆舉行盂蘭盆節（道教稱之中元節）的祭典。人們相信鬼魂與逝去的祖先，都能在此為期半個月的祭典中得到平靜。他並列舉出中、印兩國佛教的傳統、節日舉辦的時間與內容、宗教信仰價值面對「先人」的定位等角度，分析盂蘭盆節和印度祖先節的異同。

兩位教授的演講分別從不同的角度與時代背景，討論宗教在世人生活中的涉入及影響。讓與會聽眾都瞭解到，宗教是如何隨著時日遞嬗，以各種形式持續發揮著其功能。

為加強本中心「外籍學人來臺研究漢學獎助」及外交部「臺灣獎助金」訪問學人資訊服務，本中心自去年（2015）年起，已陸續為訪問學人規劃安排圖書館資源利用課程（Foreign Scholars Workshop Curriculum），協助學人有效率的利用本館資源。資源利用課程與圖書館導覽結合，本年度自1月起至10月止，預計規劃共8個場次，訂於課程當月之第一或第二個週三上午10:00-11:40進行圖書館資源利用課程，由學人自由報名參加。2016年外籍獎助學人圖書館資源利用課程如下：
